The Municipality of Larissa participates in the European program for Europe for Citizens - Heart. The coordinating partner of the program is Drustvo za Naravno Ucenje Z Dozivljanje Umetnosti In Narave G (Slovenia) and the other partners: Drustvo za podporo civilne druzbe (Slovenia), Integration for Alla (Sweden) , Bashkia Lezhe (Albania), Shoqata Shqiptare e Ambjentalisteve Industriale (Albania), Municipality of Larissa (Greece), Municipality of Peyia (Cyprus), Municipality of Medina del Campo (Spain), Municipality of Sandanski (Bulgaria), Sdruzhenie Yuni Partners (Bulgaria), Mata-malam (Bulgaria), Comitato 10 Febbraio (Italy), Municipality of Rieti (Italy), Hjelmsjövik HVB Hem (Sweden).
The aim of the program is to create a network of cultural points (Heart points) that through art, artistic play, dialogue and volunteering will promote solidarity, peace and acceptance, enhancing the active participation of citizens in order to overcoming xenophobia and stigmatization. The actions to be implemented include events of dialogue, cultural actions, training of organizations to organize awareness raising programs to promote the principles of solidarity, understanding and active participation. In addition, a handbook will be published for civil society organizations on cultural tourism, the integration of art and related programs to tackle stigmatization, the enhancement of active citizenship and the promotion of peace.
For Larissa, the Heart point - Heart Point is the Peneos Festival, which every year for a few days is the heart of the city.
The first meeting of the project partners took place in Vace, Slovenia, April 19-23, and involved 50 people. The Municipality of Larissa participated with the employees Christina Mitroula, Irene Stathakopoulou, Chrysanthi Tsolia, Dimitra Housou and Alexia Batsanouli.
The program of the first international meeting included partner presentations, meetings with local actors, cultural visits, cultural events and dialogue to promote the principles of solidarity, understanding and active citizenship.
