BIOGRAPHY OF MAYOR OF LARISSA Mr. KALOGIANNIS APOSTOLOS
Apostolos Kalogiannis was born on June 18th, 1952 in Larissa. In 1976 he graduated from the Dental School of Athens and after fulfilling his military service he returned to Larissa, where he works as a professional dentist until today.
Active member of the anti-dictatorial struggle and the Polytechnic uprising, with his establishment in Larissa he participated very prominently in the city's political and social life.
In 1982 he was elected to the City Council of Larissa, of which he held the Presidentship for many years.
In 2006 and in 2010 he was elected to the city council as the head of the movement "Unitarian Initiative Authorities".
In the summer of 2013, he launched "Unity Initiative", "Larissa City" and "Green City" local government movements to create a very broad Autonomous - Union - Democratic Coalition, the "Larissa Coalition". With democratic processes in February 2014, he became the leader and candidate for mayor’s office of "Larissa Alliance" coalition, which prevailed in the mayoral elections of May 2014.
He is married to Vasiliki Douzenis, a graduate of Panteion University of Athens -now a retired municipal employee - and he is the proud father of two children and grandfather of four.
