Description:
The “AdaptInGR” project aims to enhance the implementation of Greece’s National Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change, addressing the following specific objectives: (a) systematizing and improving short-term and long-term decision-making for climate change adaptation, (b) promoting adaptation actions and policies across all sectors, especially the most vulnerable ones, (c) creating a monitoring mechanism for the implementation of the acquis communautaire, evaluation, and revision of adaptation policies and actions, and (d) strengthening the adaptive capacity of Greek society through awareness-raising and dissemination activities at national, multi-regional, and multi-local levels. At the national level and for all 13 Regions, LIFE-IP will monitor and evaluate adaptation actions and policies and provide recommendations to the National Committee for Climate Change Adaptation for the implementation of the national strategy. Across all 13 Regions, LIFE-IP will collaborate with private and public sector stakeholders and social actors to raise awareness about climate change adaptation measures and available funding options, develop guidelines, and disseminate knowledge on good adaptation practices. Furthermore, the project includes case studies and pilot projects in 3 Regions (Central Greece, Western Greece, and Ionian Islands) and 5 municipalities (Katerini, Komotini, Larissa, Agioi Anargyroi-Kamatero, Rhodes) across Greece, to cover the most immediate risks, vulnerabilities, and respond to adaptation needs within the National Adaptation Strategy to Climate Change.
