The Municipality of Larissa in the Twin Cities-NetZeroCities Program: Collaboration with the Municipality of Izmir to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint

The utilization of digital technologies to improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon footprint is at the core of the strategic cooperation between the Municipality of Larissa and the Municipality of Izmir (Turkey), within the framework of the Global Climate Community – Synergy (GCC-Synergy) initiative, part of the European Twin Cities-NetZeroCities program.

This strategic cooperation marks a significant step towards digital and energy transition, aiming to reduce carbon emissions in the electricity sector.

Among other objectives, the GCC-Synergy initiative aims to integrate smart energy systems that optimize electricity consumption, utilize digital solutions and data analysis to predict energy needs and promote more efficient energy practices, support the use of renewable energy sources through smart grids and local energy communities, and encourage citizen and business participation, strengthening collective action for energy transition.
